What better time could there be than during Climate Week to encourage everyone to apply for a new grant that supports projects contributing to Net Zero goals.

During Climate Week local groups are being reminded that a funding programme providing £450,000 over three years has been set up to help tackle climate change and promote sustainability across South Lanarkshire.

Funded by SSE Renewables and administered by the council, the Clyde Wind Farm South Lanarkshire Net Zero Community Grant Fund is now open for applications.

Grants typically range from £5,000 to £20,000, with the possibility of larger awards for projects that demonstrate strong impact and value. Many projects can receive full funding, making it easier than ever to get started.

Councillor Norman Rae, the chair of the council’s Climate and Sustainability Committee, said: “Projects suitable for funding include those that improve energy efficiency, increase renewable energy use, reduce waste, enhance green spaces, or support active travel and climate resilience.

“So, we hope that community groups, whether they want to get a small local initiative up and running or have a larger project in mind with wider benefits, will apply for this funding which has been set up to support initiatives that will make a real difference.”

Applications are now open, so start developing your project idea and apply now to help drive positive climate action across South Lanarkshire.

Please go to the Funding for local climate projects pages for more details and how to apply.
