Major works for Garrion Bridge

Major resurfacing works are to take place on the A71/72 Garrion Bridge Interchange.
The work to improve the road surface will mean the bridge is closed overnight every night, from 8pm until 5am, from Sunday, 9 June until Sunday, 16 June.
All traffic will be diverted along A72 Lanark Road; A72 Carlisle Road; A72 Townhead Street; A723 Blackswell Lane; A723 Motherwell Road; Airbles Road; A721 Shields Road; Netherton Road; Castlehill Road; Main St; Overtown Road; Wishaw Road; A73; A73 Stewart Street; A73 Lanark Road; A73 Glasgow Road; A72 Kirkfieldbank Brae; A72 Lanark Road.
South Lanarkshire Council’s Head of Roads and Transportation Services, Gordon Mackay, said: “We are carrying out these improvement works overnight in a bid to minimise disruption to the majority of road users.
“Anyone who would normally be using Garrion Bridge during these dates and times should be aware of the closure and plan their journey accordingly.
“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience the works may cause but we feel this solution will allow us to complete the job quickly and with minimum disruption.”
