Improvement works on way for section of A73
Published: Tuesday 4 October 2022
Essential resurfacing works are to take place on a road in Clydesdale.
The A73 Carluke to Bogside Road will be closed for seven days from 7am on Saturday 15 October between Castlehill Road and Bogside Roundabout to allow resurfacing works to take place.
To help to minimise the disruption, the work will be undertaken in two phases. The first phase will see a full road closure implemented north and southbound for three days. Phase two will commence on the completion of phase one and will see the southbound lane remaining closed, with the reopening of the northbound lane.
Exit from Wildman Road will be available for the duration of the work, by left turn only.
No motor vehicles (except those engaged in the work and emergency service vehicles) will be able to park or drive on the road during this time.
A signed diversion route will be in place via the A721, A71, A72 and A73.
Chair of the council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, Councillor Robert Brown, said: “We would urge all road users to take notice of this closure, plan ahead and allow extra time for travelling if you are affected by these essential works.
“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience they may cause, but I know local people will see a considerable benefit to the condition of the road when the works are complete.”
