Anti-social behaviour strategy being developed
Published: Monday 9 October 2023

The next South Lanarkshire Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Strategy 2023-28 is being developed.
This has been achieved by working closely with our community safety partners.
The current ASB Strategy 2019-2023 focused on reducing ASB by working to prevent it happening in the first place, putting measures in place to deal with problems at an early stage and taking appropriate action when required.
Within the strategy five priorities were identified:
- Alcohol related ASB and drug misuse
- Deliberate secondary refuse fires
- Domestic noise
- Littering
- Disorder
Over the duration of the strategy a range of work has been undertaken to address these issues, with a number of successes and achievements, including:
- A number of initiatives operated, targeting young people and highlighting the links between drugs and alcohol and ASB
- A range of Fire Reach courses delivered to raise awareness of fire safety, with the aim of preventing fire setting behaviour
- Targeted patrols by community safety partners in certain locations to address incidents of ASB and disorder
- The Good Neighbour project, designed to raise awareness of the impact and consequences of ASB on those involved and the wider community
Consultation on the new draft ASB strategy is now open until January 2024, with a range of ways to get involved and give your views, including local meetings, focus groups and an online survey available on the council website.
