Warm wish granted for EK charity
Published: Thursday 30 November 2023
An East Kilbride charity is looking forward to keeping warm this winter – thanks to the council’s Community Wish List.
Agape Wellbeing is a well-being centre who provide free activities and services for children, families and vulnerable adults to support positive wellbeing. They have recently opened a Sensory Hub which focuses on children aged 0-3, developing their sensory skills to build attachment and bonding with their parents/carers.
They requested three convector heaters to be spaced across their hub, with guards on each heater for safeguarding the children who use the centre.
The request was fulfilled by Findel, who provide education resource brands and products, school essentials and innovative resources across the world.
Agape Wellbeing Community Hub Manager, Drew McKinney, said: “In winter in our centre, it becomes very cold for all folks who access and use the centre.
“A lot of the time we all must keep our coats on as we do not have central heating and rely a lot on electric heating to keep us warm.
“Having these new heaters will make a significant difference to all at Agape, as they will increase the warmth in the building for all participating in activities, and this will help us to continue our excellent service delivery to our vulnerable group.”
Key Account Manager for Findel, Neil Scally, said: “At Findel, we view community engagement as integral to our mission.
“The Wishlist initiative has streamlined this process by providing a meaningful framework for selecting projects that resonate with our company's values.
“Being able to contribute to the well-being of local communities is a source of pride for us. We are grateful for the opportunity and look forward to continued collaboration in making a lasting difference.”
Chair of the council's Finance and Corporate Resources Committee, Councillor Lesley McDonald, said: "This is another great example of the Community Wish List and the benefits it can bring to local communities and organisations.
"I would like to thank all the companies who have so generously donated so far."
