Community Kitchen wish moves a step closer

A range of equipment has been provided to help run a community kitchen – thanks to the Community Wish List.
Abington Community Development Group, a local organisation who have recently taken over the Old School House in the village as a community asset transfer, made the request for the equipment.
Maxi Construction Limited provided a fridge freezer, stick blender, food processer, free standing mixer, coffee filter and a water boiler.
Nicola Hill from the group said: “The equipment we received will save us so much time and money and really make a difference to what we are trying to do in our community.”
Compliance Manager for Maxi Construction Ltd, Lisa Aitken, said: “We were delighted to be able to reuse commercial kitchen equipment released from a GPA Project in East Kilbride.
“We were only able to achieve this by working collaboratively with the GPA to identify equipment coming free and with South Lanarkshire Council to identify possible benefactors. We were assisted in the removal, storage, and distribution by James Scott (Kitchen Engineers) Ltd.
“As a result, several community groups throughout South Lanarkshire have benefitted from the donation of much needed equipment which might otherwise have gone to landfill or for recycling.”
The Community Wish List is supported by South Lanarkshire Council’s Community Engagement Team.
Chair of the council's Finance and Corporate Resources Committee, Councillor Lesley McDonald, said: "This is another great example of the Community Wish List and the benefits it can bring to local communities and organisations.
"I would like to thank Maxi Construction Ltd and all of the other companies who have so generously donated so far."
Local community groups can still submit a wish to the community wish list.

Please note there are no guarantees that every request will be selected, nor can there be a timeframe given of when or if requests will be taken forward, as the process depends on contractors and suppliers choosing a suitable and feasible cause to support.
