Carstairs Junction Primary School and Nursery Class has received a very positive report by Education Scotland.
The report followed a visit by a team of inspectors from Education Scotland which highlighted that the pupils attending the Primary School and Nursery Class are “friendly and enthusiastic” and are “proud of their school community and engage positively in their learning.
The inspectors also noted that the staff create a highly inclusive learning environment that supports positive relationships and wellbeing for all the pupils.
Staff also use information effectively to make sure every child who needs it gets any additional support to improve the progress of their learning.
And the nursery children have a wide range of stimulating experiences which makes them more confident and creative learners.
Head teacher Jill Armour said: “I am delighted with our inspection report as it gives recognition to our inclusive and positive culture. It also highlights our learners are proud of their school, can talk about their learning and have a strong sense of equity.
“I am incredibly grateful to the whole school team for working together to achieve this outcome and look forward to achieving continued progress.”
The report also said that teachers should continue to improve the overall quality of learning, ensure activities are well planned so that every child can make appropriate progress in their learning.
Carole McKenzie, the council’s Executive Director of Education, said: “Congratulations to Jill Armour and all the school staff, parents and families for their hard work and support which has clearly been highlighted in this HMIe report.
“This report highlights yet again just how important it is for the entire school community to work hard together to make sure our children are getting the very best start in their educational journey.”
