Council backs Living Wage Week
Published: Tuesday 5 November 2024
South Lanarkshire Council is proud to support Living Wage Week.
The annual event celebrates the Living Wage movement across the country.
As part of the week, the pan-Lanarkshire Living Wage Campaign Group hosted a networking breakfast at the council’s HQ in Almada Street, Hamilton.
The event was well attended with partners, agency organisations and local businesses present to see presentations by The Poverty Alliance/Living Wage Foundation and an employer, the PSO Group, who provided an insight into the Living Wage, Living Hours and Living Pension.
This also included a look at the benefits of the Living Wage to employers, employees and the local community as a whole. Everyone in attendance had an opportunity to network and share good news stories.
Council Leader Joe Fagan said: “The real Living Wage has never been more important than it is now as we battle against spiralling prices and a cost-of-living crisis.
“The aim of the event was to celebrate employers who have already committed to the real Living Wage Movement whilst encouraging more employers to get involved in the campaign.”
