Golfers can continue to tee it up at Hollandbush

Golfers from South Lanarkshire and beyond can continue to enjoy the course at Hollandbush following a successful lease.
Hollandbush Golf Club will take over the running of the course and clubhouse, the maintenance of the site and the development of environmental improvements throughout the course.
The par 70 course, measuring 6,262 yards, is just off the M74 and close to the village of Coalburn.
The course had been earmarked for closure in 2024 but was supported by funding from the council's Community Fightback Fund to remain open while a community transfer was explored.
Club Manager Mags Cathcart said: "Hollandbush Golf Club are delighted with the decision, the club now have time to ensure this is a great success.
“We would like to thank South Lanarkshire Council, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, councillors and our local community for their help and ongoing support."
Chair of the council’s Housing and Technical Resources Committee, Councillor Davie McLachan, said: “Congratulations to the golf club on their successful lease application.
“There will now be a period during which the final details and the necessary legal agreements require to be concluded. The time that process can take varies, and the lease of a golf club and clubhouse is among the more complex of such transfers and is therefore likely to take a longer period than most.
“It has been agreed that it is more important that the lease is finalised on the best terms for all parties, and on behalf of the local community, than for it to be concluded quickly. The date of transfer therefore will remain open at this time and will be mutually agreed as part of the wider discussions to conclude the lease.
“The intention is that when the transfer does take place it will do so with minimal impact on club members and others who use the course and clubhouse.”
