Find out more about possible Strathaven Men’s Shed
Published: Thursday 3 April 2025

A drop-in information event to look at the possibility of establishing a Men’s Shed in Strathaven takes place next week.
The event will be at the Avondale Community Wing in the town from 10am until 1pm on Tuesday 8 April and is hosted by the council’s Seniors Together project.
As well as staff from Seniors Together, representatives from East Kilbride Men’s Shed, Kirkmuirhill and Blackwood Men’s Shed, Stonehouse Men’s Shed, Scottish Men’s Shed Association, Climate Action Strathaven and John Hastie Trust will be in attendance.
South Lanarkshire Council’s Older Peoples Champion, Councillor Eileen Logan, said: “Men’s Sheds are a great space where men with time on their hands can gather to work on projects, have fun, share skills, and build things for themselves and the local community.
“They are also great for improving mental health, combatting loneliness and isolation.
“It’s important to point out that Men’s Sheds can be of any shape or design, and there are no set activities for a shed – the shedders themselves decide on what will take place.
“I would urge anyone in the Strathaven area who is interesting in establishing a shed to come along on the day and find out more information.”
