An Education Scotland report has revealed consistently high-quality teaching and learning at Calderwood Primary School.
The Inspection Report also highlighted that the school in Rutherglen had an inclusive culture promoted by the encouraging and nurturing relationships between the staff and pupils.
The inspectors also noted that this led to pupils being highly motivated and engaged across the entire curriculum, especially showing a strong progress and attainment in literacy and numeracy.
And staff, parents and community partners worked very well together through a variety of experiences to encourage the pupils’ involvement and the benefits that can be gained from learning from each other, helping them to achieve their potential.

Calderwood Primary School’s head teacher, Jennifer Innes, said: “We are absolutely delighted with our report from Education Scotland. We are a happy school with a welcoming and inclusive ethos.
“The principles of nurture permeate every aspect of our practice, and we get to know all our children and families extremely well.
“We have a strong focus on equity, inclusion and celebrating diversity and individuality so are delighted our work in this area has been recognised, with our Dyslexia Ambassadors and Diversity Ambassadors getting a special mention in the report as a practice worth sharing more widely.
“We have a fantastic staff team, and the report highlights our consistent high-quality learning and teaching – the staff always go above-and-beyond for our pupils.”

Following on from the report the school will continue to develop more ways to support every pupil to build on their skills as they progress through the school.
Councillor Lynsey Hamilton, the chair of the council’s Education Resources Committee said: “Congratulations to head teacher Jennifer Innes, her teachers and all the learning community for all their hard work to attain such a very good report.
“The report praises the positive impact this has had to ensure pupils are proudly at the heart of such a supportive and active community.
“There is a real specialness at the school with staff going the extra mile. I am delighted that all this hard work and dedication has been recognised throughout this report.”
