A new member of the council’s senior management team will seek to build on South Lanarkshire’s excellent record on education.
Following a rigorous recruitment process, Lyndsay McRoberts has been appointed as Executive Director of Education Resources.
A former local headteacher, Lyndsay will move back to South Lanarkshire from South Ayrshire Council where she has been Director of Education since early 2022 and Depute Chief Executive since November 2023.
The council’s Chief Executive Paul Manning said: “Lyndsay emerged from a very impressive list of candidates who were shortlisted for interview for this role. She has exceptional experience and clear leadership qualities, and I am fully confident that she will take forward our priorities to inspire learners and ensure our children and young people thrive.”
Earlier in her career Lyndsay was an Executive Head Teacher in South Ayrshire, overseeing both Kyle Academy and Ayr Academy, before a period as Headteacher at Duncanrig Secondary School in East Kilbride. She then moved back to South Ayrshire to join that council’s senior management team.
In addition, she has held roles as a non-executive board member of Education Scotland, an advisory council member of the Scottish Qualifications Authority, and as an associate assessor for Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education.
