Major improvements on way for Cathkin By-Pass
Published: Monday 14 July 2025
Improvement works are to be carried out along the Cathkin By-Pass next week.
Carriageway resurfacing will be undertaken from Saturday 19 July to Friday 25 July.
To help reduce inconvenience as much as possible the by-pass will be closed from Burnside Road to Cuillins Road to allow the work to be carried out as quickly as possible.
A signed diversion route will be in place which will be Burnside Road, Blairbeth Road, East Kilbride Road and Cathkin By-Pass and vice versa.
In addition to the resurfacing works, the council’s Roads team will also be undertaking a range of complementary improvements including drainage upgrades, road marking renewal and gully cleaning.
This broader scope of work is designed to ensure a comprehensive and lasting improvement to the road infrastructure in the area.
Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause.
“We would request that all road users allow additional time for all journeys which involve the use of Cathkin By-Pass during the closure and plan their routes accordingly.
“We are sure residents will appreciate the long-term benefits of the improvements when the final phase has been completed.”
