Improvement works on way for A721

Essential resurfacing works are to be carried out on the A721 in Clydesdale.
The road will be closed between its junctions with Glenafeoch Road and Stanistone Road, Carluke, from 8am on Monday 4 August 2025.
Weather and resources permitting, the closure is expected to last for five days.
A diversion will be in place via: A721, A706, A73, Glamis Avenue, Chapel Street and vice - versa.
Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services Colin Park said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience these essential road works may cause.
“We would ask people to allow for additional time for all journeys which involve the use of A721, Carluke during the period indicated and that they plan their journey accordingly.
“We hope all road users will appreciate the improvements when the works are complete.”
