Apply now for Charitable Trust’s anti-poverty funding
Published: Tuesday 29 July 2025
Funding applications can now be made to the South Lanarkshire Charitable Trust.
The purpose of the trust is the prevention or relief of poverty within South Lanarkshire and it is administered by trustees who are appointed by the council.
Local community organisations and groups are now invited to apply for funding from the trust for this financial year.
Established by the council in 2019, the budgets for the trust are broken down into sub-funds for specific areas.
The total amount available for distribution from each of the trust’s sub-funds in 2025/26 is:
- East Kilbride Area sub fund – £500
- Cambuslang and Rutherglen Area sub fund – £500
- Clydesdale Area sub fund – £1,330
- Hamilton Area sub fund – £3,310
- Leadhills Area sub fund – £3,400
Applications will be considered on their individual merits and, to ensure funding is spread across as many groups as possible, awards may be less than the amount applied for.
Groups who are eligible to apply must be based in South Lanarkshire and be non-profit-making. They must also have an adopted constitution or set of rules and have a bank or building society account in the name of the organisation, as well as keeping audited accounts (or income and expenditure accounts).
Applications will not be considered from individuals, organisations who promote or support political aims and objectives, profit-making groups, groups that only exist to benefit members financially, churches, Sunday schools and religious groups to promote religious activities.
Applications will be considered for work in the community as long as the funding is used for the community side of the group’s work and not for religious activities.
Application forms can be requested by email, and completed application forms should be returned no later than 30 September 2025 to: The South Lanarkshire Charitable Trust, Finance Services, Floor 4 Council Offices, Almada Street, Hamilton, ML3 0AA. The forms can also be sent back by email.
