Major improvements on way for road in East Kilbride

Improvement works are to be carried out on a road in East Kilbride from next week.
The works on A727 East Kilbride Road will see the carriageway resurfaced and will take place across 12 days.
The work will start at 7am on Monday 4 August and is scheduled to be completed at 6pm on Friday 15 August.
The A727 East Kilbride Road will be closed from the roundabout at Peel Road to the boundary with East Renfrewshire for the duration of the works.
A signed diversion route will be in place through A727 Main Street, A727 Busby Road, B767 Eaglesham Road, B767 Glasgow Road, B767 Gilmour Street, B764 Cheapside Street, B764 Eaglesham Road and A726 Queensway.
Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause to road users.
“We would request that all road users allow additional time for all journeys which involve the use of A727 East Kilbride, East Kilbride during the times indicated and that they plan their routes accordingly.
“We are sure road users will appreciate the long-term benefits of the improvements when the work has been completed.”
The works have been scheduled to take place during the school summer holidays to minimise disruption and reduce congestion to all road users.
