More council homes on the way

New council homes are to be purchased at a development in Jackton, East Kilbride.
The council is to purchase 40 homes from Barratt Homes at their Eaglesham View Development in Eaglesham Road.
The mix of houses across the site consists of three-bedroom terraced houses, four-bedroom detached houses and two-bedroom cottage flats and terraced houses. It is anticipated that these houses will be completed in 2026/2027.
The council will invest more than £8.7 million in the properties, which reinforces commitments given in the Local Housing Strategy and Strategic Housing Investment Programme to develop housing across South Lanarkshire to both meet housing need and support social and economic regeneration.
Chair of the council’s Housing and Technical Resources Committee, Councillor Davie McLachlan, said: “These homes are a welcome addition to the council’s housing stock and meet the varying needs of people across East Kilbride.
“We are determined to provide residents across the area with high quality homes and this is just one of the ways in which we will deliver them.”
Acquisition of the properties will be funded from the Housing Revenue Account, Capital Programme and will be eligible for Scottish Government Affordable Housing Supply Programme grant funding which will reduce the overall cost to the council.
