One day closure for improvements to A706
Published: Friday 24 April 2026
Improvements are to take place on a section of the A706 in Clydesdale next week.
The road will be closed for up to one day from 8am on Thursday 30 April between Lanark and Forth Harelaw roundabout to Silverbirch House.
A diversion will be in place via: A721, A73, A71, A706 and vice-versa.
Head of the council’s Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience that may occur during these essential road improvement works.
“We would request that all road users allow additional time for all journeys which involve the use of the A706 during the period indicated and that they plan their journey accordingly.
“I am sure road users will appreciate the much-improved condition of the road when the works are complete and thank them for their patience.”
