Draft policies open for consultation
Published: Monday 1 June 2026
Council house tenants and other customers are being asked for their views on how vacant council housing in South Lanarkshire is allocated.
It follows a review with tenant representatives of the Housing Allocation Policy.
At the same time, the council has also been working with members of the Gypsy Traveller community in South Lanarkshire to review the Pitch Allocation Policy for Gypsy/Traveller sites.
Both policies are now open for consultation – details of the draft Housing Allocation is on the council website, as is the Pitch Allocation Policy for Gypsy/Traveller sites.
Both consultations will remain open until 3 July 2026.
Head of Housing Services, Sharon Egan, said: “We are keen to get tenants and other customers views on these policies and would appreciate if you could tell us what you think of the proposals by completing the on-line surveys.
“All comments received during the consultation will be considered in the development of the finalised policies which will be put forward for approval by the Housing and Technical Resources Committee in September 2026.”
If you have any questions about either policy, you can email for more information.
