Everyone invited to attend extreme weather planning event
Published: Friday 28 August 2026
Groups and individuals with an interest in climate resilience are being invited to come along to find out how to prepare for adverse weather conditions.
This one-day event will involve activities, networking and workshops exploring how to protect homes, buildings and community spaces from the extreme weather that is becoming more frequent.
The council and Lanarkshire Climate Action Hub are bringing together organisations from across Scotland who have the knowledge, key contacts and tools to help prepare against heatwaves, flooding and storms.
Suitable for anyone with an interest in community resilience against climate change and extreme weather, the event will provide plenty of time for attendees to browse the specialist stalls and chat with teams from the council and other organisations including the Conservation Volunteers, Scottish Flood Forum and the Verdancy Group who will be on hand to help support communities.
This event is also an opportunity to voice your concerns about the impacts of climate change, learn what other communities just like yours are doing to adapt and make connections with organisations who can support your community to take action.
The event is being held on Tuesday 8 September from 10am-3pm at the Whitehill Neighbourhood Centre, Hamilton, ML3 0LH - lunch will be provided on the day.
To attend please sign up for your Community Climate Resilience Tickets
And don’t worry – if you are unable to attend the full day, you can just come along to the activities that are most relevant to you. For full details of the agenda and to register, please go to Eventbrite.
